Welcome
Welcome to the monthly newsletter for members and associates of the Biofeedback Art-Research-Practice Network — a platform for sharing your work, offering collaboration, getting feedback, and finding professional opportunities. The newsletter serves to circulate news and support initiatives of the community members, so please feel encouraged to feed details regarding any relevant subject by using the feedback form.
Highlights
Since the announcement, the Network welcomed new members. This newsletter introduces the work of a few of them:
Cheng Yang (Hong Kong; CN) is an emerging artist and researcher currently pursuing PhD at the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. In her work, Cheng explores how the science-art cooperation and multisensory association in creative expression can enhance our understanding of the natural and cultural significance of ‘incense’, and further strengthen our responsibility for multispecies symbiosis and cultural continuity. http://chengyang1998.org
François Lespinasse (Montreal; CA) is a PhD student at Concordia University exploring intersections of technology and culture from the perspective of social anthropology. Francois belongs to a Montreal-based collective of neuro-AI artists who design interactive installations for local and international venues. Creating participatory environments for public engagement, the group crafts audiovisual and musical experiences as well as performance settings using both biosignals and AI, pushing boundaries of human-machine creative interaction. https://centreforsensorystudies.org/francois-lespinasse/
Natalia Fuchs (Corfu; GR) is a curator, cultural producer, and media arts historian pursuing PhD in Ethical AI at Ionian University, Department of Audio & Visual Arts. Natalia is a founder of ARTYPICAL, a platform for public-facing projects pertaining to bioart and multimedia art. Recently, she collaborated with the ZKM Center for Art and Media in Germany, CTM Festival in Berlin, National Gallery in Prague, and the chapters of MUTEK Festival. In 2020, Natalia contributed to “AI Art Manifesto” as one of the co-authors. http://artypical.com
