Bio
I am a Chilean visual artist and researcher based in Porto, working across installation, sculpture, video, sound, and bio-art. My practice explores the ecological, historical, and geopolitical dimensions of specific territories, investigating human impact and proposing alternative narratives of ecological responsibility and interspecies coexistence.
Collaboration with scientists and local communities is central to my work, bridging artistic and research-based approaches to communicate ecological knowledge.
I am a researcher at CITAR and a doctoral candidate in the Science and Technology of the Arts program at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. My research projects include immersive installations featuring extremophile bacteria from the Atacama Salt Flat in Chile—organisms that survive saline and arid conditions through cooperation. Among the planet’s earliest life forms, they embody resilience to environmental change, now threatened by lithium extraction, and are capable of recovering lithium from discarded batteries. By developing interactive systems that translate microbial life into video and generative soundscapes, I aim to make invisible ecological processes tangible while highlighting the resilience and fragility of life in this extreme environments.
